International Program Manager
Location: Washington DC
Collaborate with and assist the Corporate International Director and his team, in generating architectural and engineering project opportunities primarily in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia for projects in Corporate Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Hospitality and Aviation sectors.
This person is the point of contact for all international inquiries, as well as the initial contact with the international field staff based overseas (currently in Hong Kong, Beijing, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi and Moscow), to assist them in vetting opportunities and working with U.S. offices, market sector leaders and consultants as well as to provide them with business intelligence and market analysis.
This individual will work closely with the corporate marketing group, industry sector leadership, as well as operational and business development staff across our U.S. and international offices and will be required to have regular communication with senior executives across the company on behalf of the International Director. They will also be responsible for supporting the International Director in maintaining relationships and regular communication with partner companies, key clients and government and NGO contacts.
Responsibilities
- Understand the services and capabilities of the firm to leverage existing client relationships for international projects
- Generate opportunity leads from various sources, including potential and existing clients, partner companies and numerous research tools
- Strategize with key stakeholders to compete for and win international projects
- Communicate with Leo A Daly offices on a regular basis regarding activity related to international target lists, opportunities and projects
- Help maximize the time of the international director regarding business development by assisting with:
- Management of International Target and Opportunities lists
- Setting up key meetings
- Develop teaming relationships
- Coordinate with Corporate Market Sector Leaders to develop international clients, pursuits, teaming partners
- Manage the international opportunities list from a sales perspective - Review opportunity reports for accuracy, missing information, and to stay abreast of all pursuits
- Develop and prepare targeted marketing packages from a sales perspective
- Maintain complete and up to date records regarding client and prospects
- Follow up / Follow Through:
- Meeting debriefs, introductory and follow-up correspondence, update Vision CRM database (some of this is done by this person and may have assistance from administrative staff.)
- Keep on top of pending issues by means of Vision database(activities, project status, opportunity status/next action, reporting, action items, etc.)
- Is everything getting done to facilitate business development?
- Attend industry related conferences as required
- Occasionally stand in for the International Director who travels extensively:
- Vet requests of international director and handle/respond if able
- Attend state-side international events (Embassies, etc.) when the international director is unavailable
- Generate interest and determine appropriate teaming partners for the firm in conjunction with market sector leaders (may require travel for face-to-face meetings)
- Facilitate international teleconferences
- Occasionally required to work outside standard work hours to attend conference calls, meet tight deadlines, and accommodate client schedules
- Up to 20% travel required - mostly domestic
- Assist with country and international company registrations
- Assist in pre-proposal preparation including strategy and being a liaison with international staff/offices/teaming partners/clients
- Data entry of all contacts into Vision database
Qualifications
- A desire to excel, with a high-energy attitude
- Knowledge and experience in international sales and developing new business
- Experience researching and prospecting for new clients
- Experience living in or dealing with international cultures, specifically in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, or Asia
- Strong ability to communicate internally as well as with clients and key stakeholders at the highest levels of the organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation abilities
- Excellent client management and customer service orientation
- Proven ability to set and achieve goals and identify critical issues to be addressed in achieving goals
- Demonstrated organizational skills, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Mature judgment, self-motivated, and the ability to work independently and ability to coordinate the action of others
- Attention to detail, good follow-through essential
- Bachelors Degree in Business or Professional Service desired
- Minimum of 5 years of related business experience required
- Strong computer skills; Deltek Vision CRM database experience a plus
- Experience in the architecture, engineering or construction fields preferred
